1 killed, 6 injured in accident

Masvingo-Beitbridge highway.

The incident which involved a Nissan Elgrand occurred at the 217km peg at around 3pm. The vehicle had just been imported from Japan and was travelling to Harare. The police spokesman for Matabeleland South Assistant Inspector Christopher Ngwenya identified the deceased as Mujuru Mujuru of 44 Tangenhamo Street in Masvingo.

He said Mujuru died from serious head injuries sustained during the accident adding that his body had been taken to Beitbridge hospital mortuary.

“Investigations so far reveal that the vehicle was travelling from Beitbridge to Harare with eight people on board including the driver, Anyway Masanga of Karoi. Upon reaching the 217km peg along the Masvingo Beitbridge road, the vehicle burst its rear left tyre resulting in the driver losing control,” he said.
