THE Law Society of Zimbabwe (LSZ) has barred six lawyers from practising after they failed to renew their certificates, while four others have been deregistered for a number of reasons.
In a statement, the LSZ said the lawyers were not allowed to operate in any way as they did not have 2024 practising certificates issued by the regulatory body.
The certificates show that a lawyer has had their trust accounts audited and found to be compliant.
The statement listed the lawyers, who, by the end of last month, had not renewed their practising certificates.
They are: Godwin Muunganirwa of Muunganirwa and Company, Hazel M Makonese of Khuphe Chijara and Makonese Attorneys and four unattached lawyers, Esther Makoni, Jairus Mutsekwa and Munashe and Tungamirai Nyengera.
The four who have been deregistered are: Doreen Vundhla of Vundhla-Phulu and Partners, Brighton Ndove of Ndove and Associates, Liberty Mandiveyi (unattached), and Muyengwa E Motsi of Me Motsi and Associates.
“They do not have the right to appear before any court, police station, or prison on behalf of clients until such a time when they have renewed their practising certificates.
“In the event that they have regularised their licencing status, the public is encouraged to first confirm with the Law Society of Zimbabwe before engaging them,” said LSZ.
