100 Day Cycle targets in ICTs on course

PROGRESS is steadily being made in the 100 Day Cycle under the Information Communication Technology Ministry’s purview with schools in Matabeleland North, South and Esigodini Technical Collage benefitting.

This was revealed by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcastiong Services Dr Jenfan Muswere on Tuesday afternoon during a Post Cabinet briefing in Harare.

He said the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Dr Tatenda Mavetera reported progress on projects under her purview.

“1 000 people were equipped with digital skills, and the remaining 200 will be equipped by 15 May 2024; 2 500 records have been digitized; development of the Government Applications Procurement Framework is on course for completion by 15 May 2024 and deployment of ICT equipment to 100 marginalised schools is on course, with 40 schools having received the equipment, and the remaining 60 will receive the equipment by 15 May 2024,” said Dr Muswere.

He said so far 14 ICT-enabled disaster management centres have been were established and 52 base stations have been deployed around the country.
“52 base stations were deployed across the provinces as follows: Mashonaland East, 12; Mashonaland West, 12; Midlands, 4; Manicaland, 4; Matabeleland South, 7; Masvingo, 13; and Matabeleland North, 3,” sadi Dr Muswere.

He said there has been an installation of a Wireless Radio Base Station in Masvingo that was completed and installation of internet at Esigodini Agricultural College was also completed.

Dr Muswere said there has been the establishment of an ICT and Vocational Training Centre which was completed and handed over to Marondera Female Open Prison.

“The refurbishment of post offices at Tsanzaguru and Torwood in Manicalad and Midlands provinces, respectively, was completed; site surveys for the Long-Term Evolution (LTE) project in Chitungwiza were completed, and equipment was delivered; and the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls-Kazungula Fibre Optic Backbone project is on course for completion by 15 May 2024.”
