POLITICIAN Linda Masarira’s husband Bongani Mlotshwa, will serve 350 hours of community service for beating her up at their home after she found him sleeping in her daughter’s bedroom.

Masarira (41) is the President of the Labour, Economists, and African Democrats (LEAD) party.

In a statement the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said Mlotshwa (29) was on Tuesday arraigned before the Epworth Magistrates’ Court facing charges of contravening the Domestic Violence Act.

“The State proved that on the 5th of May 2024 the accused person assaulted the complainant thrice on the eye with clenched fists after the complainant had found him sleeping in her daughter’s room, said NPAZ.

“He was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment of which 5 months were suspended for 5 years. A further 10 months was suspended on condition that the accused person performs 350 hours community service.”

The NPAZ encouraged members of the public to desist from violence and resolve their disputes amicably or seek third party mediation.
