The duo allegedly stole the cooking oil and hid it at a policeman’s house.

Prosper Simbarashe (24), a storesman at Chicken Inn, Construction House allegedly connived with colleague Farai Makanya (23) based at Chicken Inn First Street and stole 60 litres of used oil and 40 litres of pure oil.
They allegedly took the loot to Simbarashe’s uncle, Tatenda Mudyiwa, a policeman in Chinhoyi.

The duo, however, pleaded not guilty when they appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Shelly Zvenyika.
They were remanded out of custody to July 27 for trial on US$20 bail each.

Prosecutor Ms Sikhangele Mahlamvana alleged that on July 10 last year Makanya went to the Chicken Inn storeroom at Construction House where Simbarashe was working and stole the cooking oil.
They were, however, captured on the closed circuit television.

Authorities at the shop reported the theft and the pair was arrested.
Simbarashe told police during interrogation that they had taken the cooking oil to Chinhoyi.
The oil was valued at US$136.
