105 senior government officials undergo cybersecurity training

AT least 105 senior government officials from various levels have undergone training on cybersecurity.

This was revealed by Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister Tatenda Mavetera today in Kadoma during the official opening of a five-day long strategic plan review workshop for her ministry that ends on Friday.

Minister Mavetera said the plans were now to take the training to judges and other government officials.

She said the evolvement of technology, saw a rise of cybersecurity

The country, she added, prioritised building robust cybersecurity frameworks to protect its citizens and businesses from these potential threats.

“Issues concerning the National Security Operations Centre and basic cyber security training for the whole of Government must take centre stage during the strategic planning meeting,” she said.

In her welcoming speech, Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo said the province was leveraging on ICT in agriculture, mining and tourism sector.

The three are Mashonaland West’s key drivers in the economic sector.
