DELTA Corporation Limited last week hosted a send-off ceremony for the University of Zimbabwe team, which is the Enactus Zimbabwe National Champion.

The team is set to represent the country at the prestigious Enactus World Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan, from October 1 to 4, 2024.

The Enactus World Cup is a global gathering of young social innovators that brings together students from 35 countries.

The event also features renowned business leaders and academics who will engage with the talented participants.

Past speakers included notable figures like former US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and former African Union chairperson Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

The University of Zimbabwe’s winning project, Aqua Flora, addresses the environmental issue of water hyacinth infestation in Zimbabwean water bodies.

The initiative involves responsible government agencies and local communities in the removal of the invasive plant.

The collected water hyacinth is then processed into a powder that is used to create high-quality, lightweight Hydra boards for various furniture applications.
