ELEVEN people were injured in a head-on collision involving two commuter omnibuses along the Mutare-Chimanimani Road last night.
Acting Manicaland provincial police, spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident.
“The crash happened yesterday around 8:30pm at the 32km peg near the 22 Miles Tollgate. A Toyota Hiace, commonly known as a Baby Quantum, was travelling towards Mutare with five passengers on board when it rammed into the rear of an Inter Africa bus carrying 30 passengers.
“The impact caused the hiace to veer into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Nissan NV350 minibus that was carrying 18 passengers,” he said.
Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said four passengers in the Toyota Hiace and seven in the Nissan NV350 sustained injuries, and were rushed to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for treatment.
“The two kombis were extensively damaged, while the bus was only damaged on the bumper,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
He urged motorists to exercise caution at all times.
