11 teams for Bankers League Knock-out tourney

ELEVEN Teams will take part in the second edition of the Bankers League knock-out soccer tournament to be held at Old Hararians this weekend.
The tournament, arguably the biggest in the bankers’ league, will see three groups with four teams taking to the field.
The event was officially launched last Friday and several teams confirmed their participation.

Speaking at the launch, Paynet marketing and communications manager, Patience Mapolisa, said they are happy to partner the bankers league.

“We at Paynet are happy to partner banker’s league. Having been partners with banks for more than ten years and also have a good relationship we have a good working relationship.

“I would like to convey our happiness as Paynet to be able to support the Bankers Soccer League and we hope the event will be a success,” Mapolisa said.

The tournament will see four teams in Group A which are ZB, Ecobank, Agribank and Tetrad fighting for a slot in the quarter-finals.
Group B comprises of FBC, RBZ, Afrasia and BancABC while Group C has three teams — Standard Chartered, CBZ and CABS.

The event, in its second year this year, was won by ZB Bank in its inaugural competition last year.
The Bankers League has seen the introduction of former Premier League players such as Naison Muchekela and Bothwell Mahlengwe.
