11-year-old killed in cart accident

An 11-year-old boy from Maboleni in Lower Gweru died on the spot when a speeding donkey-drawn cart he was travelling in hit a tree stump and overturned.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the incident occured on a bush road near Maboleni Business Centre on Tuesday.

“Mr Thando Khayise Ncube was controlling the donkeys as they sped with no one in their front. One of the cart wheels then hit a tree stump and it overturned.

“An 11-year-old boy, Muzingayi Ntini was thrown outside and sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot. The scene was attended to by the police and the matter is under investigation,” he said.
