An 11-year-old boy who was sodomised by his uncle for two years has died due to injuries he sustained due to the sexual assault.
The boy from Chitsa Village in Bindura fell ill after the sexual abuse and died a week ago, months after the perpetrator was convicted of the crime.

Bindura regional magistrate Mr Elisha Singano sentenced Trymore Chigora (36) to 20 years in prison in July this year.

Chigora was facing indecent assault charges.

The court heard that sometime in 2022, Chigora met the boy, gave him US$5 and asked him to accompany him to his mother’s homestead.

No one was at home and Chigora sodomised the boy.

He went on to sexually abuse the boy on several occasions until he fell ill in 2023. The minor was taken to the hospital for treatment many times.

In March this year as the boy was admitted in hospital, he opened up about the abuse to one of his uncles, leading to Chigora’s arrest.
