12 teams to tussle in Copa Coca-Cola tournament

Speaking at the launch, the Midlands Provincial Education Director Agnes Gudo commended the sponsors and National Association of Secondary Heads (Nash) for working together to promote sport at schools. The major highlight of the launch was the draw of the provinces into four groups of three teams each from the country’s 10 provinces.

The defending champions Manunure High and the hosts Mosi-oa-Tunya High School in Victoria Falls qualified automatically to bring to 12 the number of teams that will take part in the competitions.

In the Under-17 girls category Group A will be made up of the hosts Mosi-oa-Tunya High School, winners from Midlands and Mashonaland Central provinces.

Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and winners from Masvingo will make up Group B.

Group C will have Manicaland, Mashonaland East as well as the defending champions Vainona High School. Group D will have winners from Bulawayo, Harare and the Mashonaland West champions. In the Under-16 boys category,

Group A will see the champions of Matabeleland North, Harare and the Mashonaland East provinces battling it out. Group B will have Midlands, Bulawayo as well as Manicaland’s winning team. Defending champions Manunure High School, Mashonaland West and Matabeleland South teams will be in Group C with Group D made up of hosts, Masvingo as well as the Mashonaland East champions. Coca-Cola senior brand manager Mona Karingi said their drive was to create positive change on the continent.
