120 golfers expected at Harry Allan Amateur Classic

Harry Allan Club secretary Sheperd Huni confirmed that they had started the registration and said so far half of the players that they were expecting to participate had registered.
“We have started the registration and we are expecting about 120 golfers to participate.
“A total of 60 have so far registered and 20 of them are women. We are expecting more to register from Hwange, Harare and other areas,” he said.

The Duraline Harry Allan Golf Classic is one of the biggest competitions in the country.
Huni said they were expecting international players although he would not reveal their names as they are still to confirm participation.
The competition will be divided into three divisions — A which will be the low handicaps, B for the middle handicaps and C for the high handicaps.

“The course is looking good at the moment because  of the rains that we have been receiving of late,” said Huni.
He said the competition fees were pegged at $20 for the two days which translates to $10 a day.

Harry Allan’s Moses Mlalazi is the defending champion with Mufaro Chivonivoni who has won the competition in the past also expected to take part.
“This is the biggest competition on the amateur calendar and we are expecting the regular golfers and a lot more. It is open to everyone,” he said.

Some of the players that are expected to take part include Tau Paguwa, Margaret Vera, Rodna Mutasa and Tonderai Gavu.
Duraline will sponsor the prizes for the players although Huni said they could not say what the value of the sponsorship was. “We appreciate that Duraline will once again be sponsoring the tournament” he said.
