BULAWAYO-based gospel Seventh-day Adventist church group Celeste Music which has three albums to its name, is set to release an EP on its social media platforms on July 31.
The latest four-track project comes as the group celebrates a musical and spiritual journey that began in 2002 before Celeste Music was officially established in 2005 by young people united by their passion for gospel music.
Over the years, the group has ministered through song at church programmes, evangelistic campaigns, youth gatherings and community outreach initiatives, using music as a tool to inspire faith and bring hope to audiences.
The upcoming EP with tracks, Show me the way, Ivai neni, Thembela and Ndaiwana, captures Celeste Music’s experiences of faith, perseverance and trust in God, with the group believing the project arrives at a time when many people are searching for encouragement amid life’s challenges.
Group member Mhlengi Sibanda said the decision to release the project was driven by a desire to reach more people with messages of hope and reassurance.
“We felt led to share these messages with a wider audience because many people today need encouragement and reassurance that God is always present,” he said.
Sibanda said the group’s journey has not been without challenges, including limited financial resources, balancing ministry with work and family responsibilities, as well as changes in membership over the years.
“Like many music ministries, we have experienced challenges such as balancing ministry with work, school and family commitments, limited financial resources for recording and production, and changes in group membership,” he said.
Despite these hurdles, Celeste Music has remained committed to its calling, viewing music as a ministry rather than simply a form of entertainment.
“We see music as more than entertainment, it is a ministry,” said Sibanda.
As the group enters its next chapter, Celeste Music hopes the EP will open new opportunities for growth, including recording more original music, collaborating with other gospel artistes and mentoring young musicians.
The group also aims to expand its reach over the coming years while remaining committed to its core mission of spreading the gospel and drawing people closer to Christ through music.
