A 23-year-old woman from Insiza, Matabeleland South is appealing for financial assistance to commence university studies to fulfill her dream of becoming a lawyer.

Miss Nomvelo Ndlovu (23) of Phumelela village said she wants to become a lawyer but her dream might be shattered as her mother whom she referred to as, Emely Moyo, abandoned her while she was a toddler.
Her father is late.

“My father died when I was a toddler and I also don’t know my mother although I only heard that she left us with our paternal grandmother after claiming that she had no money to take care of us. As I grew up, I just realised that I had no parents. I only knew my grandmother, Tambudzo Ndlovu (74), and my uncle Mncedisi Ndlovu (40) so I had no other option but to accept this kind of life,” said Miss Ndlovu.

She said that her uncle who used to pay her school fees works at a rural tuck-shop and cannot afford to pay for her university studies.

Ms Ndlovu wrote her Advanced Level examinations in 2019 and attained 16 points.
She has As in Literature in Ndebele and Ndebele Language, B in History and D in Literature in English.

“I have been in and out of Mkwabene High School where I have been asking my teachers if they know any programs or scholarships that can assist me to fulfill my dream. I have   failed to get help and I am kindly asking for help from anyone who might wish to do so,” she said.

Miss Ndlovu said her brother, Wiseman, also dropped out of school when he was in Form One due to failure to pay fees.

She said, since she was young, she always wished to be a lawyer.

Miss Ndlovu said after studying she hopes to work and repay those who raised her after her mother abandoned her and also inspire children from her poor village to excel.

Those willing to help her can contact her on 0716 103 709 or her uncle Sizile Khumalo on 0716 115 812 -@ TichaKarubwa
