SOCIAL football has been embraced by many organisations as a key team building agent among workers.

It is also a tool which helps brand awareness.

Impala FC was revived in 2021, in a bid to give their workers an opportunity to interact, as well as increase the company’s brand visibility.

Hip Hop artist King 98 is part of the team and plays as their main striker.

King 98’s late father, Thompson Dondo, founded the company.

Impala FC chairman, Tarirai Nunurai, said social football was very important for their organisation in many aspects.

“Social soccer is important to us as Impala Car Rental as it unites our employees and gives them time to interact outside the formal environment.

“It enhances work-life balance and it is part of our social corporate responsibility programme.

“We participate in competitions for a social cause.

“Impala Car Rental invests largely in its marketing efforts on both traditional and digital marketing platforms.

“Participating in social soccer is part of our strategy to increase brand visibility.”

He added: “The team is largely made up of Impala Car Rental employees.

“However, as part of our corporate social responsibility, we also help young guys from our society, who have a passion for s occer, to join our team.

“We then identify some with other skills like driving and we incorporate them into the organisation.

“So far, two players have been signed from our team, the other one was signed by a Division One club based in Masvingo, and the other by a Division Two club in South Africa,” he said.
