A TOTAL of 170 exhibitors showcased their products at this year’s Masvingo Agriculture show, which ended here on Sunday, depicting a more than 60 percent increase in participation compared to the previous year.

Guest of honour and Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs who officially opened the event on Saturday, Cde Ezra Chadzamira, said the increase in the number of exhibitors signalled potential for economic growth in the province and the nation at large.

“I am thrilled that this year’s show has attracted 170 exhibitors from last year’s 105. This shows more than 60 percent increase from last year’s figures.
We also have over 40 000 paying show goers,” said Minister Chadzamira.

“Government is aware of the economic battles that people are facing in terms of accessing cash and a multiple pricing system. We remain committed to bringing measures to arrest the cash crisis. I want to call upon captains of industry, our retailers, manufacturers and our general citizenry to uphold clean, sincere and human principles of trade.”

The minister said improved participation dovetails with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s drive to open Zimbabwe for investment from anywhere in the world.

He invited potential investors to tap into opportunities offered by Masvingo. Masvingo Show Society president Mr Phillip Mauta said the show was a great success.

“This year we had a phenomenal increase in the number of exhibitors and this can be attributed to the “Zimbabwe is open for business mantra” enunciated by President Mnangagwa. The show went well,” he said.
