POLICE have arrested 171 foreigners for entering the country without proper travel documents.
Mational police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, warned motorists against using vehicles in human trafficking in connivance with foreign nationals.
“On 15/08/22, police in Murewa arrested 86 foreign nationals, comprising 76 males and 10 females, for entering the country without travelling documents,”. he said.
“The suspects were intercepted at a house in Medium Density Suburbs, Murewa, after being assisted by a local transporter.”
ZRP Gweru Rural arrested Wosith Travellers Coach bus crew for human trafficking.
They transported 82 foreign nationals without travel documents.
Ass Comm Nyathi added that detectives in Murewa arrested three foreign nationals, who were hitch-hiking from South Africa, enroute to Nyamapanda without following the eight procedure. Meanwhile a foreign national, Mathabi Tshililo, 32, was arrested at Limpopo Old Bridge, Beitbridge Border Post, for smuggling a firearm and dangerous weapons into the country.
“The suspect was found in possession of a Pietro Beretta Pistol, 50 x 9mm live rounds, two spears, an axe, a knobkerrie, a button stick, a pair of handcuffs, pepper spray and an electric shock,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.
“Police in Harare arrested Precious Maunganidze, 39, at RGM Airport for trying to smuggle ammunition to South Africa.
“The ammunition was stashed inside a plastic bottle with oil, a razor blade and a magnet.
“The suspect claimed that she was given the ammunition by a prophet based in South Africa as a lucky charm.
“Investigations are in progress.”
