189 pool players for AAPA final qualifiers

A TOTAL of 189 pool players drawn from all the country’s 10 provinces are on Saturday and Sunday set to fight it out in the final All Africa Pool Association (AAPA) national qualifiers at Raylton Sports Club.

The qualifiers are meant to come out with a list of 24 men and 12 women who are going to represent the country at the AAPA competition to be held in South Africa.

The games were initially scheduled to take place from 7 to 12 May. They will now be played at a date yet to be announced.

“We are happy to say that as Bulawayo province we had a successful bid to host the final All Africa Pool Association (AAPA) national qualifiers. In that regard 137 men and 54 women drawn from over the country will seek to outdo each other in these final qualifiers.

“As Bulawayo province, we will have 32 representatives at the final qualifiers. In that regard, we are calling upon all pool lovers in the City of Kings and Queens to consider thronging Raylton Sports Club to give our representatives all the much needed support as they seek to be part of the Fish Eagles,” said Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA) fixtures secretary Kudakwashe Shoko.

Zimbabwe played host to the AAPA games in 2017. That was the first time for Zimbabwe Pool Association (Zipa) to hold such an event as the pool fraternity sought to gain more professional relevance.

In 2016, the AAPA contest was held in Uganda. Zambia also once played host to the event.
