DETECTIVE Constable Nomore Muradzikwa has laid out damning evidence in a sensational case where four men stand accused of 19 counts of unlawful entry and theft.
The gang allegedly went on a crime spree, stealing a wide range of goods including TVs, car batteries, fridges, gas stoves, gas tanks, three bottles of whisky and even a blanket.
Testifying in court on Wednesday, Muradzikwa said two of the accused, John Malunga and Menelisi Sibanda, were arrested on 20 May near Hillside shops. The pair had parked their Honda Fit and were waiting for a client to buy one of the stolen TVs when detectives swooped in.
Under questioning, Malunga cracked and fingered his alleged accomplices — Arise Moyo and Fungai Chinjodzi.
“Malunga then led us to the places where they had sold the stolen property. We managed to recover several items, which were later positively identified by their owners,” testified Muradzikwa.
The seizure forms listing all recovered goods were tendered in court as evidence, tightening the noose around the accused quartet as the case continues.
