19 injured in accident

NINETEEN people were seriously injured yesterday afternoon when a lorry they were travelling in was involved in an accident in Gweru.
The accident occurred at a round-about in Gweru at around 2pm after the lorry driver failed to negotiate it. Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba yesterday confirmed and said the 19 were admitted to Gweru General Hospital where they were reported to be in a stable condition.

She said the lorry was heading towards Bulawayo when the accident occurred.
“According to reports, the driver failed to negotiate the round-about resulting in the 19 being injured,” she said.
She said investigations were still in progress to ascertain what exactly happened.
