2 killed in road accident

The kombi was heading to Chiredzi when the accident occurred along the Chiredzi-Tanganda highway on Sunday.
The two people who died were in a Chiwara Tours kombi which was carrying 14 people.
Four other passengers on the kombi sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Collin Saunders Hospital in Triangle. Their condition is said to be serious.
Six people in the haulage truck belonging to Golden Murray Transport were also seriously injured and rushed to Chiredzi District Hospital where their condition was said to be serious.
“The deceased were taken to Chiredzi District Hospital mortuary while some of the injured were also taken to that hospital where they are recovering. Four others who were injured were rushed to Collin Saunders Hospital in Triangle,” said Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tineyi Matake.
Insp Matake said preliminary investigations showed the truck burst a tyre and veered off its lane to encroach into the opposite lane.
The haulage truck reportedly hit the omnibus and overturned, landing on its roof.
