A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy died upon admission at a clinic after being run over by a truck in Amaveni Suburb, Kwekwe a few hours before New Year.

According to police, Nkosinamandhla Dube, was walking alone on an unnamed road on December 31 2023 around 8 PM when he was hit by the truck.

“Preliminary investigations established that the boy was run over by a Toyota Dyna lorry which was driven by Peter Dzama (29). He sustained head injuries and was rushed to Amaveni Clinic where he died upon admission,” said Midlands Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.

He appealed to motorists to exercise due care and diligence when driving and urged parents to monitor their children’s movements.

“The fact that the two-year-old boy was run over by a motor vehicle walking alone at 8 PM, raises the need for improvement on the level of potential care and supervision of young children,” said Inspector Mahoko.
