ABOUT 20 technicians have been certified on refrigerant handling in a bid to promote compliance and ensure that the environment is protected from ozone depletion.
The chairperson of the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Association, Caign Manyukwa said that they managed to train about 20 technicians on refrigerant handling.
“We conducted a four-day workshop last week at the Harare Polytechnic College and we had about 20 participants. These participants were certified during the workshop, and we had some senior Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) executives taking part in this exercise,” said Manyukwa.
He stated that a number of certification programs will be rolled out to the different cities.
“This certification program is in line with the requirements of SI49/2023 that makes it mandatory for RAC practitioners to get certified.
“We have a number of these programs planned for the 2025 calendar and the organisers are working with teams in all the towns to mobilise the participants.
“The town that gets to reach the required numbers will be attended to,” he said.
Manyukwa urged technicians to enroll for the certification program to contribute to protecting the environment.
“We urge all trained, qualified and semi-skilled technicians to enroll for the certification program to avoid unnecessary skirmishes with the law. Compliance is easy, it makes life and business flow,” he said.
