A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Tsholotsho, Mqcini Sithole, has been sentenced to four months in prison for stealing household electronic goods from a 77-year-old woman.
The National Prosecuting Authority said in September 2025, Sithole went to the victim’s home around 3 pm, on a surveillance mission.
He reportedly spotted a speaker and a solar-powered inverter. The complainant saw him moving around on her property and later the same day discovered that the speaker and inverter were missing.
On September 16, 2025, when Sithole returned to the woman’s house and asked for work, the woman immediately recognised him and reported him to the police, leading to his arrest.
Sithole was sentenced to four months in prison. However, the sentence was wholly suspended on condition that he restitutes the victim R720 for the stolen goods.
The National Prosecuting Authority urged the public to remain vigilant and to secure their property.
“Even passersby could be people harbouring criminal thoughts.”
