Over 200 karatekas attended a seminar dubbed Gasshuku (karate seminar) at Lake Chivero which was aimed at networking among karatakas.
In an interview with organising secretary Sensei Brighton Muyambo, said the seminar was an opportunity for karatekas to meet and interact.
“We had our Gasshuku which means training camp from November 24 to 26 at Gomo Resort at Lake Chivero in the evening.
“This was under the leadership of Branch Chief Renshi Bakari Jamali with the blessing of regional head Shihan Simon Mogano who is based in South Africa, The Zimbabwe (IBU) Kyodokyokushin executive which consists of Kaicho Brian Gahadzikwa Chikara, organising secretary Sensei Brighton Muyambo, treasurer Sensei Ackmore Magwede.
“We had karatekas from all of Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces coming to the end of year Karate Seminar.
“We had 20 Dojo Heads in attendance including national technical director Senpai Calvin Chingomai.”
Sensei Muyambo said, they had aimed to assemble at least 300 karatekas but resources limited them.
“Due to limited resources we only managed to assemble 200 karatekas including children as we have an aggressive junior policy.
“Karatekas came as far as Beitbridge, Bulawayo, Bindura, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Chinhoyi to attend the event as it was national in character.
“We had many karate sessions, including lectures and practical on functional karate physical fitness, self defense and time for socialization.
“We also set meetings for the 2024 national Kyodokyokushin agenda.
“We finished our seminar on high note and had to travel back to our provinces rich in karate knowledge and sore bodies from the grilling sessions under the firm hand of Renshi Jamali,” he said.
