Business premises face destruction

A NUMBER of business premises   are facing destruction in Bubi    district after they were condemned by the rural district council for failing to meet minimum health standards during an inspection exercise.
The development has not gone down well with businesspeople  in the Matabeleland North district,   as they are accusing the  local authority of undermining development.
“We have not been in good books with the Bubi Rural District Council (RDC) for some time and it’s a deliberate decision to destroy our structures,” said a businessman who preferred anonymity.

Sugarcane price goes up

The producer price of sugarcane has surged to $652 per tonne from $585, an official said on Tuesday.
When the selling season started in April small-scale farmers in the Lowveld indicated that they were happy with the producer price which millers were offering.
Last season millers were buying the crop at $525 per tonne.
