Teacher found dead

Chronicle Reporter
A female teacher from Mateme Secondary School in Nkayi district  allegedly committed suicide by drinking a poisonous rat killer following a dispute with her   husband.

Alice Maphingire (23), who was reportedly five months pregnant, was found dead in her cottage by other teachers on Sunday morning.
A teacher from the school who spoke on condition of anonymity  said the teachers were shocked by    the death of their colleague who taught history and agriculture.

“She was found dead in her cottage bedroom on Sunday morning. Everyone at the school is in a state of shock because we do not know how it happened,” said the teacher.
“We last saw her the previous day at 5pm and everything was normal. Her husband Mr Khumbulani Ndinabadli had gone to Kwekwe and she was alone at that time.
“What I can say is that their marriage was rocked by disputes and the husband was very abusive. They quarrelled about this all the time but the guy was arrogant.”

Matabeleland North acting  police spokesperson Sergeant Eglon Nkala confirmed the incident yesterday.
“She got into her bedroom and never came out until Sunday    morning when her colleagues looked for her at around 10am,” said Sgt Nkala.
“They knocked at the door but  there was no response. They finally forced the door open and peeped through only to see her lying down  on the floor.
