GOVERNMENT may not be aware of the actual number of teachers it employs and how many it needs to fill vacant posts because the education record management system is in shambles.
Education, Sport, Arts and Culture Minister David Coltart yesterday said no one was sure of the exact number of schools in the country.
He said they were failing to plan and budget accurately as a ministry because of the anomalies.
Minister Coltart said there were no accurate records in the education sector for the past five years because the management information system database record management information system is dysfunctional
Speaking from the United Kingdom where he is attending the World Education Forum, Minister Coltart said the touted figures of the number of teachers and vacant posts were based on guess-work.
