The trial of Egypt’s ousted President Hosni Mubarak will resume in earnest today when judges begin hearing arguments from prosecutors, who say Mubarak and his co-defendants are to blame for the deaths of hundreds of protesters.

Duty to boost clothing industry

The introduction of duty on clothing items is going to boost the local clothing industry that faced stiff competition from cheap imports, economic analyst Dr Eric Bloch has said.
The Government with effect from 1 January introduced duty on all clothes imports whether new or used in a measure aimed at protecting the local industry and locals can no longer claim a rebate on clothes bought abroad.  

GMB credit scheme came late: Khumalo

THE Zimbabwe Commercial Farmers’ Union (ZCFU) has said the directive by Government to the Grain Marketing Board to sell agricultural inputs on credit for the 2011/12 cropping season  came late.
Last week, Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Minister Dr Joseph Made announced that Government had directed the GMB to sell farming inputs to farmers on credit this season.
The farmers are expected to pay for the inputs after marketing their produce.
