Mash West polls: Mafa bounces back

Walter Nyamukondiwa in CHINHOYI
FORMER Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial chairman Cde John Mafa has bounced back after comprehensively beating three other aspirants in elections held over the weekend.
He garnered 1 255 votes to beat Cde Walter Chidhakwa who got 711 votes, Cde Rueben Marumahoko who had 513 votes and Cde Moffat Marashwa who got 52 votes.

Cde Marumahoko was the party’s acting provincial chairman.
Announcing the results at a Press briefing yesterday, Zanu-PF national political commissar Cde Webster Shamu said the incident-free election provided a template for the establishment of a democratic order in the party.

“The election shows our detractors that Zanu-PF is an organised party that can apply equality of opportunities to its people,” he said.

Cde Shamu said the election showed that the success of the revolution depended on a party that is well-organised.
“Our people have now began to understand that the success of our revolution depends on a people that are well-organised and working towards a common destiny,” he said.

Court okays PM’s fine

Tendai Mugabe Senior Reporter
CHIEF Negomo, Mr Luscious Chitsinde, has obtained a court confirmation to attach Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s property after he failed to pay a fine for marrying in the sacred month of November.
PM Tsvangirai customarily married Ms Locadia Karimatsenga Tembo in November last year, resulting in Chief Negomo summoning him to his court.

The chief registered his judgment with the Bindura Magistrates’ Courts and the provincial magistrate endorsed it on December 30 last year.
The confirmation means Chief Negomo’s judgment now belongs to the Bindura magistrate.
Chief Negomo will now have to instruct the Messenger of Court or the Deputy Sheriff to attach the PM’s property.

The Messenger of Court or the Deputy Sheriff will then seek a writ of execution from the courts after which they can proceed and attach the property.
In an interview at his court at Gweshe Business Centre on Saturday, Chief Negomo said he will soon attach the PM’s property and that of his in-laws.
