Three issues remain in Labour Act amendment negotiations: ZCTU

THE Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions has said three issues remain outstanding as negotiations continue to amend the country’s Labour Act to align it with principles of the International Labour Organisation.
The outstanding issues are the protection of salaries in the event of company closures, casualisation of workers and the setting up of an all-inclusive piece of legislation governing employees from the public and private sector.

THE Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Management, Francis Nhema, yesterday threatened to descend heavily on companies and people who are illegally utilising wetlands without authorisation.
In his address on the World Wetlands Day Commemorations held under the theme: “Wetlands and Tourism — My Responsibility, My leisure”,   in Victoria Falls yesterday, Minister Nhema  called upon traditional leaders, local authorities   and members of the public to partner his ministry in its endeavour to ensure that wetlands were protected.
