Mannex going beyond music
There is a strong relationship between being born in the ghetto and music. Most musicians who achieved phenomenal feats in the music who include Whitney Houston, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Augustine Musarurwa, Isaac Chirwa, Hugh Masekela and many others came from the ghetto. Asiagate hearings begin
Daniel Nemukuyu Senior Reporter
INVESTIGATIONS into the Asiagate scandal are complete and the Zifa Independent Ethics Committee is today expected to start conducting hearings of those who will be charged.
The committee will also name players, officials and others who will be hauled before it.
The prosecution, according to reliable sources, was ready to conduct the hearings after interviewing about 90 players and football officials.
Chief prosecutor for the committee Advocate Lewis Uriri is expected to start by officially announcing the names of those who will be charged.
Advocates Zvikomborero Chadambuka and Deepak Mehta are assisting Adv Uriri.
Names of those who have been exonerated for lack of evidence will also be announced with reasons.
The Herald understands that Zifa had booked a venue for the announcement of the names and the hearing proceedings over a period of three weeks at Alexandra Sport Club with effect from today.
An impeccable source said everything was in place, but the committee was likely to move the date from today to later this week to ensure the presence of 18 foreign-based players.
“Zifa has booked a place at Alex Sports Club for the hearings. The bookings are for three weeks from tomorrow. That is the agreed venue for the hearings and all the 90 people interviewed should be present for the announcements.
Farm-by-farm audit on cards — Made

Farirai Machivenyika Senior Reporter
THE Ministry of Lands, Land Reform and Resettlement will this year conduct a farm-by-farm audit to establish the extent of the challenges resettled farmers are facing.
Acting Lands, Land Reform and Resettlement Minister Joseph Made told Parliament recently that the verification programme will help Government come up with proper policies for resettled farmers.
To date, a total of 145 775 A1 and 18 289 A2 farmers have benefited from land reform.
“In its day-to-day operations, the ministry has established that farmers are facing various challenges which interfere with farm productivity and farm utilisation.
“Financial support to farming operations is very limited from financial institutions,” Minister Made said.
He said farmers faced various challenges from erratic power supply to inadequate extension services and poor infrastructure.
Minister Made said the farm-by-farm verification programme will replace a larger land audit due to lack of finances.
“These are issues which would have been captured in the proposed national land audit had funding been provided for its implementation. In the absence of funding for a larger land audit, the ministry plans to carry out verification assessments on a farm-by-farm basis.
“If resources are availed to the ministry, the plan is to do verification assessments on a farm-by-farm basis to
Incompetence costs Zimbabwe billions of dollars, says Biti

Tendai Mugabe Senior Reporter
ZIMBABWE is losing billions of dollars through investment agreements with foreign investors because it does not have a pool of competent people to assist in negotiations, Finance Minister Tendai Biti has said.
Presenting a lecture to students at the University of Zimbabwe last Friday, Minister Biti said Government lacked a vibrant legal team that should negotiate and draft contracts with foreign investors.
He was presenting a lecture on “International Debt Management: The Case of Zimbabwe”.
“Most Governments have a desk of lawyers that do the drafting and negotiating of investment deals.
“In Zimbabwe we do not have that desk. Theoretically, we have the Attorney-General’s Office,” he said.
Minister Biti said the AG’s Office had officers who left school about three years ago, hence their inability to handle such important issues of national interest.
He said Zimbabwe lost a substantial amount of money when
