FALLUJA —Thousands of mourners rallied on Saturday for the funerals of Sunni Muslims shot dead by troops as they rallied to demonstrate against Iraq’s Shi’ite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

Sunnis have taken to the streets since December to protest against what they call mistreatment of their minority sect, increasing fears Iraq could slide back into the kind of Shi’ite-Sunni bloodletting that killed tens of thousands in 2006-2007.

SOME tobacco farmers have started delivering their crop to auction floors ahead of the 2013 marketing season that starts mid next month.

The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board announced on Friday that the 2013 auction tobacco marketing season opens on 13 February with contract sales starting the following day.

THE Highlanders FC board survived ouster by a whisker after members blasted them over the way they handled the issue of former treasurer Odiel Nkomo who was alleged to have embezzled club funds.

Highlanders’ bona fide members had been eagerly awaiting the outcome of the forensic audit carried out by Grant Thornton auditors which revealed that there were financial irregularities at the club which were caused by lack of proper accounting systems at the club.
