Govt partially fulfils doctors’ demands

GOVERNMENT met striking doctors yesterday and urged them to resume work as some of their grievances had been addressed. Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo met the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association, the Health Service Board (HSB), the Zimbabwe Medical Association (ZIMA) and the Apex Council.

RBZ quartet cleared

THE Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has cleared its four directors of involvement in illicit currency dealings as alleged by Mr Acie Lumumba a.k.a William Gerald Mutumanje following investigations.

Knives out for Mudzuri

MDC-Alliance faces a potential split, with party leader Mr Nelson Chamisa set to preside over two high-level meetings today in a drive to have his deputy, Mr Elias Mudzuri, expelled. At least 220 party districts are said to have resolved to have Mr Mudzuri fired ahead of next year’s party congress for harbouring presidential ambitions.

Banking sector posts 77pc profit jump

Zimbabwe’s banking sector boosted profitability in the nine months to September 30, 2018 posting an aggregate net profit of $283,98 million, latest Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) figures show. This was a 76, 68 percent increase from a net profit of $160, 73 million for the corresponding period in 2017.

Intratrek wins $25m ZPC lawsuit

The Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) has lost a High Court case in which local private firm, Intratrek Zimbabwe, had sought an order declaring a multi-million dollar contract signed between the parties on the Gwanda solar project valid or alternative payment of $25 million damages for contract breach.
