165 000 register to grow ‘golden leaf’
The 2018-19 tobacco registrations have reached 165 850, a 65 percent increase from the 100 723 who registered last year. The statistics come at a time when the early planted irrigated crop now showing signs of ripening.
New wheat producer price announced
Government has set the wheat producer price for the 2018-19 agricultural marketing season at US$630 per tonne, up from US$500, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa has said. Minister Mutsvangwa made the announcement yesterday while addressing journalists on decisions taken by Cabinet at its sitting earlier in the day. She said the new selling price sought to boost wheat production.
Doctors praised for calling off strike
GOVERNMENT has welcomed the move by most doctors to return to work to give ongoing negotiations a chance saying efforts were being made to address their concerns. While noting isolated cases of striking doctors, Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo said the majority have heeded Government’s call to allow for negotiations to continue.
