Government yesterday warned Zimbabweans not to abuse the freedom they have by attacking other people on social media and peddling lies bent on causing mayhem and anarchy. There are growing calls for laws that make it a requirement for people to be vetted before being allowed to use social media.

Govt partially fulfils doctors’ demands
GOVERNMENT met striking doctors yesterday and urged them to resume work as some of their grievances had been addressed. Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo met the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association, the Health Service Board (HSB), the Zimbabwe Medical Association (ZIMA) and the Apex Council.

The endorsement of President Mnangagwa as Zanu-PF’s sole candidate for the 2023 Presidential race ahead of the 17th Annual National People’s Conference, which began with a Politburo meeting on Tuesday, has been badly misread by sections of the media who view the move as cheap politicking.
Banking sector posts 77pc profit jump
Zimbabwe’s banking sector boosted profitability in the nine months to September 30, 2018 posting an aggregate net profit of $283,98 million, latest Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) figures show. This was a 76, 68 percent increase from a net profit of $160, 73 million for the corresponding period in 2017.
Intratrek wins $25m ZPC lawsuit
The Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) has lost a High Court case in which local private firm, Intratrek Zimbabwe, had sought an order declaring a multi-million dollar contract signed between the parties on the Gwanda solar project valid or alternative payment of $25 million damages for contract breach.
