Dr Obert Moses Mpofu
AS yet another successful year comes to an end, I cannot express enough gratitude over the many wins that my Party has been able to achieve.
The year 2023 has been perhaps one of the most remarkable years in our history. We won a difficult election that was riddled with all manner of attacks from our detractors. Even with such difficulties and all sorts of reports being written about Zanu-PF, we managed to keep the faith, hold the ship steady and spur the nation forward.
We made so much progress this year alone that our detractors are really unsettled by the achievements that the Zanu-PF-led Government has been able to attain under an environment riddled with illegal sanctions from the West. Zimbabwe has managed to look within and come up with homegrown solutions that have been instrumental in turning our economy around.
With assistance from countries we consider as friends, we have managed to move forward.
The sheer determination by our visionary leader, His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa and the Zanu-PF party, it has been possible to attract numerous high-impact investments that have spanned all sectors of our budding economy.
In 2023, there were notable signs that could not be ignored in the form of innovative strides, robust infrastructure development projects, increasing domestic production as well as employment opportunities for our people. If 2023 was a year of sowing, then 2024 is indeed the year of harvest. With our impressive agricultural sector as well as the US$12 billion mining sector being the pivots of our economy, our great nation is indeed entering into a golden age courtesy of the ruling Zanu-PF party and its astute leadership.
So diverse has Zimbabwe’s economy become within a short period of time that we are the fastest growing economy in the region.
According to the World Bank, since June 2023, the Government of Zimbabwe has proactively tightened monetary policy to reduce inflation as well as the parallel market exchange rate and further extended the use of the US dollar as legal tender until 2030 and this has promoted business confidence through reducing policy uncertainty.
All these efforts have led to positive results for the Zimbabwean economy and they demonstrate President Mnangagwa’s visionary leadership. The only hurdle left are the unjustified illegal economic sanctions imposed on our country by our detractors. Evidence is clearly there, which shows that, in the absence of these impeding sanctions, Zimbabwe will surely go further and much quicker in terms of economic development.
Our electoral victory in the August 2023 harmonised elections is owed to the immense achievements by Zanu-PF and President Mnangagwa, who has managed to live up to each and every one of the promises that he made since taking the oath of office. It is such consistency that has earned the ruling party unparalleled loyalty and trust from the electorate.
Zimbabweans now sleep easy knowing that Zanu-PF is in charge and all is well. Perhaps what has been the greatest lesson in 2023 is that, as Zimbabweans we can. All we need is simply unity of purpose under Zanu-PF, and we will take our country to economic prosperity.
All these achievements attained in 2023 have been made possible as a result of the immense love for our country.
I have made several efforts of tracking these achievements in this very publication over the course of this year.
In order to maintain this remarkable progress that we have made thus far, we truly need to appreciate more the visionary leadership of HE President Mnangagwa and the Zanu-PF party. Anything else would mean losing the country to the imperialists and their puppets.
As this year calmly comes to an end, I would like to remind our people that Zimbabwe is in good hands and we are poised for even greater things in 2024. Happy holidays and a prosperous 2024 fellow Zimbabweans.
