About 223 nurses trained at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital have graduated as registered general nurses, midwives, paediatric, operating theatre, intensive and coronary care nurses.

Officiating the graduation ceremony, Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Douglas Mombeshora said it is important to ensure that the country has healthcare workers with adequate knowledge and skills.

“The above can best be achieved by well-trained, knowledgeable, committed and skilled nurses and midwives. It is a well-known fact that at any health institution, the first medical professional who attends to patients and clients is the nurse. It is therefore very important that these cadres be well-equipped with the knowledge and adequate skills to ensure that we have a healthy nation,” he said.

A total of 137 registered general nurses, six operating theatre nurses, five intensive and coronary care nurses, nine paediatric nurses and 66 midwives were conferred with diplomas.
