A MEMORIAL service for Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) Commissioner, Dr Engineer Martin Muduva, was held at a local funeral parlour in Harare this afternoon.
Among the mourners were staff and students from Midlands State University, as well as senior officials who worked closely with Commissioner Muduva and his wife, Lyliosa Chirara.

Family spokesperson, Tatenda Chinoda, urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information circulating on social media regarding the circumstances surrounding the couple’s deaths.
Commissioner Muduva died after sustaining injuries during an alleged axe attack by his wife, Lyliosa, in circumstances said to be linked to gender-based domestic violence.

It is further alleged that after the attack, Lyliosa later took poison and also died.
The body of the late Commissioner Muduva was first taken to his house in Dzivarasekwa Extension and then to the funeral service before being transported to Buhera, where he will be laid to rest tomorrow.
