A LOCAL businessman has saluted his long-serving teacher, who has been at the same school for more than a quarter-of-a-century.
Preston Maporisa, who is also the manager of local musician Seh Calaz, visited his former primary and secondary schools in Seke.
He donated stationery worth more than US$1 000 and paid fees for 20 less-privileged pupils. Maporisa hailed his former teacher, Mr Kufandaedza for his loyalty to Kandava Secondary School where he has been teaching for the past 27 years.
“I have a strong rural background and know the challenges faced by pupils, especially from poor families,” said Maporisa.
“It is for that reason that I decided to plough back to the schools that brought me to where I am today. My former teacher is still in the teaching field and at the same school. Mr Kufandaedza taught me 27 years ago and remains dedicated to duty, developing the community and the nation at large.

“I salute such teachers and I want to partner them in shaping the destiny of our children,” he said.
He donated goodies to 20 secondary and 33 primary school teachers.
Some of the teachers broke down in front of their students. The students appealed to him to repair windowpanes and help them get more text books.
Maporisa promised to continue supporting the school and urged other former pupils to plough back into their communities.
