The Second Republic has improved access to primary healthcare in Binga following the construction of a number of clinics in the district as the Second Republic continues with efforts to improve the livelihoods of its citizens.
Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Richard Moyo, commissioned Malaliya Clinic in Pashu area last Wednesday and Sinamusanga Clinic the following day in the same district.
The two facilities were built using devolution funds allocated by the Government to Binga Rural District Council. Also under construction are: Zambezi and Kalungwizi clinics in the same district as well as a number of schools.
Given the increased development focus, Minister Moyo said Binga will never be the same again.
“It’s an honour to stand before you on this day to officially open Malaliya Clinic. We want to thank President Mnangagwa because Binga, which was way behind, has now come on board,” said the minister in his official address.
“The provision of health is one of the pillars of the National Development Strategy 1 on access to health. There was no clinic in Malaliya but our President through his commitment to development in Binga availed devolution funds. It’s not only Malaliya Clinic, there are more clinics at various stages of completion.
“The clinics will reduce distance to the nearest clinic. These are clinics built through devolution funds. I greatly appreciate the effort of the RDC in implementing programmes being pioneered by the Government,” he said.
Minister Moyo said Malaliya Clinic was the first health facility in the area whose existence would improve people’s livelihoods.
He acknowledged the contribution of the community in Malaliya, saying this dovetails with the agenda “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/ Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo”.
Binga RDC is also implementing a number of other projects such as the Zambezi, Kalingwizi and Chipale clinics, as well as various schools such as Chibondo Primary using devolution funds.
He urged the community to express its gratitude by voting in their large numbers for the Second Republic in this week’s elections.
“Binga will never be the same again. With all these projects, it’s only Zanu-PF under President Mnangagwa that can bring development. Binga will never be the same again,” said the minister.
“This is what development should be. Development is about quality service delivery to the community and nation.
“Let’s all play our part and work tirelessly for the development of our communities.”
