POLICE on Wednesday arrested 3 102 people through out the country for contravening lock down regulations.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said of the arrested, 1 294 people were nabbed for unnecessary movement during lockdown while 1 178 were arrested for failure to wear masks.
This brings to 347 264 the total number of people arrested since the first lockdown in March 2020.
Asst Comm Nyathi reiterated that only members of the essential services will be allowed at roadblocks and other check points after 6pm.
He urged those knocking off duty at 3pm to ensure that they go home straight after work.
Asst Comm Nyathi implored members of the public to carefully plan their movements so that they are not inconvenienced during the curfew period.
