TRAGEDY struck along the Harare-Bulawayo highway on Friday night when a horrific head-on collision claimed three lives and left four others nursing serious injuries.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the fatal road traffic accident occurred on 11 April 2025 at around 7:30PM near the 63-kilometre peg, sending shockwaves through road users and families alike.
According to police, the crash involved a Toyota Caldina carrying six passengers and a Hino Dutro truck with one passenger on board. The two vehicles collided head-on under yet-to-be-established circumstances.
Three people died on the spot, while the remaining four – some in critical condition – were swiftly rushed to Norton Hospital, where they are admitted.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Norton Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
Police are urging motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads, especially during night driving.
“The investigations are ongoing, and we appeal to road users to avoid reckless driving and adhere to speed limits,” said national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
