THREE employees on Monday lost a total of US$22 446 stashed in offices at Chloride Zimbabwe in Workington.
Chloride Zimbabwe accountant, Arthur Ngaiso, 31, his assistant Petronella Chinyani, 35, and the Human Resources manager lost their personal cash while the company was robbed of US$3 564 cash and property yet to be valued.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the robbery.
“Police are investigating an armed robbery case involving US$26 446 at a company at Workington industries in Harare,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Circumstances are that on March 24, 2025 at around 2.30am, a security guard was on duty manning Douglas Road main gate while two security guards from the same security company were manning another gate along the same road.
“Five workers were working in the battery breaking department when four men wearing balaclavas, one armed with an unknown firearm and one with an iron bar gained entry into the premise by force opening the small gate.
“The accused persons tampered with CCTV cameras, which were installed in front of the administration block.
“They handcuffed the guards and ransacked some offices.
“Total value of stolen property to be ascertained and the value of cash stolen amounts to US$26446,” said Insp Chakanza.
