pervasive corruption that has hogged the limelight since their election into office.
Controversial Chiredzi West legislator Mr Moses Mare was ousted by Mr Dustice Zivave who won the primaries.
Also shown the exit door was the MDC-T provincial youth chairman Mr Oliver Chirume, the sitting legislator for Gutu Central, who lost to Mr Kenneth Nhemachena.
MDC-T Masvingo provincial spokesperson Mr Harrison Mudzuri also lost Zaka Central to Mr James Mushonga.
In Bikita East, the incumbent legislator, Mr Edmore Marima, who had previously avoided scrutiny on the grounds of poor health, won the confirmation exercise over the weekend.
However, the fate of Zaka North MP Mr Enerst Mudavanhu, who also escaped the confirmation exercise on health grounds, was not yet known.
Provincial secretary Mr Tongai Matutu yesterday said he was not aware of Mr Mudavanhu’s fate.
“I do not know anything at the moment with regards to Zaka North and what I only know is that Mr Mudavanhu was not feeling well and that caused the postponement of primary elections,’’ said Mr Matutu.
The MDC-T was accused by its supporters of trying to covertly impose Mr Marima and Mr Mudavanhu in Bikita East and Zaka North respectively by delaying the confirmation exercise and primary elections on flimsy grounds that the pair was sick.
The whole Masvingo Urban MDC-T sitting councillors were rejected by party supporters who elected a new cast to represent the party in the forthcoming elections in primaries held over the weekend.
In Ward One, deputy mayor Mrs Selina Maridza lost to Mrs Esther Wasarira while Ward 2 councillor Johannes Gono was swept aside by Mr Gerald Musakanya.
Ward 4, which was held by the late councillor Daniel Muchuchuti, was won by Mr Godfrey Kurauone while Ward 5 that was held by Mayor Alderman Femius Chakabuda was won by Mr Daniel Mberikwazvo.
Alderman Chakabuda did not contest.
In Ward 6 Masvingo City Council finance committee chairperson Mr David Vasivenyu was crushed by Herbert Fidze while Ward 7 councillor Mr Luckson Mutumbami was thrashed by Mr Richard Musekiwa.
In Ward 8 where incumbent councillor Mr Misheck Gapare did not seek re-election, the primary elections were won by Mr Paul Rimai while in Ward 9 the incumbent councillor Mr Charles Valentine was defeated by Mr Babbington Beta.
The MDC-T councillors courted the ire of ratepayers after they were implicated in a series of corrupt deals while service delivery also plummeted to appalling levels over the past five years.
