300 ARTISTS SIGN UP FOR NEXT LEVEL HIP HOP PROGRAMME

IN an overwhelming display of enthusiasm and passion for hip hop, over 300 Zimbabweans have registered for the Next Level Hip Hop Programme scheduled to take place at Zimbabwe College of Music from July 8 to 18. 

The Next Level Hip Hop Programme, which has not been held in Zimbabwe for nine years, offers a unique opportunity for hip hop dancers, MCs, beat makers and Djs to learn from renowned US  educators.

“Selected participants will gain comprehensive instruction in their chosen artistic discipline, focusing on skill-building and entrepreneurship,” reads a statement from the programme organisers. 

“From the 300 applicants, the programme will select 15 DJs, 20 beatmakers, 30 dancers and 20 rappers. 

“Successful applicants will be notified on June 21, 2024 and participants will undergo intensive workshops, focusing on arts skills building and entrepreneurship and will be mentored by industry experts like dancer Lady Beast, MC Dee-1, DJ Nick Neutronz, beat maker Krithi, and project manager Aysha Upchurch”.

The programme will culminate in a final concert performance on July 19 at the 7 Arts Theatre in Harare.
