AT least 300 households in Binga District affected by floods early this year yesterday received assistance in the form of foodstuffs from a grouping co-ordinated by the Organisation of Rural Associations for Progress (Orap).

Orap chief executive officer Mrs Mvuselelo Huni, said her organisation, working with other partners handed over food, soap, instant porridge, soya chunks, cooking oil and second hand clothes to some of the affected families yesterday.

Other beneficiaries will get the assistance today.

“Orap is working in a partnership known as We Are One Movement, with Eat Out Movement and Feed the City. In Binga we distributed to 300 households a package consisting of 10kg mealie-meal, two litres of cooking oil, a bar of green soap. We also got 1,5kg instant porridge from Arenel, 2kg soya chunks, salt and sugar beans from ProBrands,’’ Mrs Huni said.

She said Orap was working with Population Services Zimbabwe, Basilwizi and Jabula New Life Covenant Church. Mrs Huni said some of the needy families also received clothes.

“Arenel also gave us some mahewu and energy drinks, and ProBrands donated some mahewu and milk. United Refineries Limited donated some of the oil and soap.”  – @Mdawini_29
