THREE-HUNDRED-AND-FOUR youths from eight Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) in Mashonaland West Province graduated on Friday at a ceremony held at Mashayamombe VTC, where Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Minister Tino Machakaire announced plans to establish three additional centres in the province.

The new centres will be located in Sanyati, Siakobvu and Mhangura as part of the Government’s effort to decentralise skills training and expand access to technical education in line with Vision 2030.

Speaking at the event, Minister Machakaire emphasised discipline, hard work and the strategic rollout of vocational infrastructure as key to youth empowerment and national development.

Graduates pledged to apply their newly acquired skills to improve their livelihoods and contribute to community development.

Top-performing students used the platform to encourage their peers, particularly young women, to embrace vocational education and steer clear of social vices like drug abuse.

Traditional leaders also endorsed the initiative, with Chief Ngezi hailing VTCs as effective tools in curbing youth idleness and crime.
