At least 35 drug dealers in Zimbabwe have been convicted and sentenced to various jail terms or fines following a recent crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse. The crackdown comes as the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) intensifies its efforts against illicit drug activities.

National police spokesperson  Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the convictions, stating that the ZRP is committed to combating drug-related crimes.

Comm Nyathi stated that police will not relent in the fight against drug abuse and urged the public to report drug-related activities through the National Complaints Desk. The ZRP is also running awareness campaigns to educate the masses about the dangers of drug abuse.

According to police reports, the types of illicit drugs prevalent in the country include depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens, narcotics, and various unregulated substances.

The conviction of these 35 individuals marks a significant step in Zimbabwe’s ongoing battle against drug trafficking and abuse. The police are determined to continue their operations, aimed at protecting communities from the harmful effects of illegal drugs.
